Reading and Film Screening with Richard Van Camp

Please join us on Friday morning, February 24th from 10:00-11:30 for a film screening and reading with renowned Dogrib (Tlicho) Dene author and storyteller Richard Van Camp.
Richard Van Camp is the best-selling author of numerous books, including the novel The Lesser Blessed ; short story collections Angel Wing Splash Pattern and The Moon of Letting Go ; children's books with George Littlechild, A Man Called Raven and What's the Most Beautiful Thing You Know About Horses? ; and two baby books, Welcome Song For Baby: A Lullaby for Newborns and Nighty Night: A Bedtime Song for Babies . Van Camp has also written two comic books for Healthy Aboriginal Network, including Path of the Warrior , with Cree artist Steve Sanderson, and Kiss Me Deadly , with artist Chris Auchter.
Van Camp is from Fort Smith, NWT. He is a graduate of the En'owkin International School of Writing, the University of Victoria's Creative Writing BFA Program, and holds a Master's Degree in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia. He is currently Writer-In-Residence within the Department of English and Film Studies at the University of Alberta.
He will screen director Kevin Redvers' and Cross Current Productions' 17-minute adaptation of his story "firebear called them faith healers." Van Camp will also read from The Moon of Letting Go and speak with the audience about his work.
