Six English Department Graduate Students Named HASTAC Scholars

Six English Department graduate students -- Alyssa Arbuckle , Trish Baer , Shaun Macpherson , Daniel Powell , Lori Steuart , and Katie Tanigawa -- have been named 2011-12 HASTAC Scholars for their innovative digital humanities work.

HASTAC ("haystack") is a network of individuals and institutions inspired by the intersections between new technologies, learning, teaching, communicating, creating, and community organizing.

HASTAC Scholars share what's happening on their campuses with an international audience by networking with their local communities and the online HASTAC community. They also orchestrate a regular discussion forum on the HASTAC web site.

During 2011-12, the Department's six HASTAC Scholars will meet face-to-face to share their work and discuss the trajectories of their digital humanities research. They are co-mentored by Stephen Ross, Jentery Sayers, and Ray Siemens in the Department of English.
